Harlequins v Saracens match moved to Wembley
By Prof
October 7 2009
Reports are that the match against Saracens on 17th April 2010 will be moved to Wembley Stadium.

This means that we won't be visiting Vicarage Road and also that there may well be a number of cheaper tickets available.

Formally announced

Saracens will play two further Guinness Premiership matches at Wembley Stadium this season.
The Guinness Premiership leaders will play Worcester Warriors on Saturday February 13th (k.o.15h00) and Harlequins on Saturday April 17th (k.o.15h00).

Chairman Nigel Wray said: "We started something special when 44,832 spectators watched us play Northampton Saints at Wembley in September, and now we are planning to build on that success. Once again, we will be offering a fantastic day of great rugby and great entertainment at a great stadium, all at an amazing price."

The overwhelming majority of tickets for both matches will be priced at £10 for adults and £5 for under-16s.

Quins to play at Wembley

CLUB EMAIL
" Saracens will tomorrow announce that two more Guinness Premiership matches will be played at Wembley Stadium – the fixtures against Worcester on April 13th and against Harlequins on April 17th.

The decision to move two more matches to Wembley reflects the club’s determination to appeal to a larger support base and to perform on a major stage. However, the club does recognise that switching two Premiership matches away from Vicarage Road may cause some inconvenience to box holders, season ticket holders and club members.

For these two matches:

· Box holders will be offered an equivalent number of seats in the Royal box, free of charge;
· Season ticket holders will be able to apply for premium seats between the 22m lines, free of charge;
· Holders of parking passes at Vicarage Road will qualify for free coach travel from Watford to Wembley."

Almost certainly, probably a tenner.

I have heard it's at least £50 for Quins fans.......and that's in the top tier (no, it will be £10)

Come along to the game in November as well, that's £10 for adults and £5 for kids. And you get to see South Africa!!!

I went to the BaaBaa/Aus match last December and I can assure you the new Wembley is a stunning stadium. I'll be there...

I would have considered going along to this, but I really don't think I could stand listening to that godawful song any more...

Can't really argue with a tenner can you, especially when it comes with a free portion of victory.

Can Saracens really afford to switch two more League games to Wembley at those prices? Didn't they make a big loss on the Northampton game?

They have a billionaire backer so I presume they can afford to do pretty much anything

Seats may be cheap, but the time I went there food and drink were more expensive than Twickenham.

I have to echo Mentat. Not a cat in hell's chance do I want to suffer the Saffieson's theme song. I've only just got rid of the insufferable tune out of my head since LDH!

Count me out.

Newish Quin - Apparently the club needed 40,000 at Wembley for the Saints game in order to break even. As it turned out 45,000 attended so the fixture edged into the black.

Just another concrete football dump. Stade de France is better!

As opposed to our ground which is made of flowers and gravy

New Wembley is quite nice, although I've only been there for gigs.

Anybody who thinks that Wembley is dire, needs to experience it, Alanquin if you think Stade de France is better well I would like to know on what grounds, Food is expensive but inside the stadium its fantastic TV screens in the warm !! no need to walk up flights of stairs, and plenty of room in the seats unlike SDF.

It is a fantastic stadium but buy your food before you go in.

They don't play football at the Stade de France then! Why do you think football grounds are concrete dumps? Some of the football stadiums here are excellent with great views of the pitch no matter where you sit. There's not a better rugby gound in England including Twickenham then Wembley.

Harlequins, probably the best rugby club in the world!

A less than half empty stadium and that awful song blasting out. Perhaps some second rate dance troupe (Could we lend them the LV girls or luvvies or what ever their called)and if it can be arranged some animals racing.

No, not for me!

I have to agree, this is now a game I will attend. I wouldn't have gone to Vicarage Road - I have only been once (boxing day game when we drew) and I hated it there.
I've not been to Wembley since it was rebuilt, so I'm looking forward to it.

They just don't get it.
Football stadia = football fans.
I like the Stoop.
Thats part of why I like the Quins.

Surely it's all about supporting our team, not about how we might enjoy the surroundings.

What complete and utter b*ll*cks. The saffers are one of the most passionate rugby nations in the world, yet nearly all their rugby grounds are shared with football teams.

When Tigers play at Walkers Stadium does that make them football fans? Surely the fact that they're watching rugby makes them, er, rugby fans.

They play rugby league at Wembley, too. Does that make Sarries fan rugby league fans or does it mean League fans are Quins and football supporters?

Confusing.

Not confusing - Narrow minded

The only complaint you might get about a Rugby Union club match at wembley is lack of atmosphere as a half full stadium is never ideal, but if they can get 60,000 + it will be a great event.

5 stops away on the tube for me. I'll be there.

Of course, all public transport will be closed for repairs that day...

But how many of the 45,000 paid I wonder?

Still, fair play to Sarries for giving it a go and I'll certainly pay my first visit to the new Wembley. I don't think expensive food or rubbish on the tannoy will put me off. It doesn't at The Stoop!

How long before the Wembley experience loses it's appeal. Once a season fair enough, but three times?
I can't see the Wuss game selling although I think we'll be an attraction.

As for Wembley, well I've been seven times now and it's OK. I've never felt bowled over by it though.

I'll probably go as I wouldn't get to Wembley otherwise, but I doubt I'd go there if we went back next season.

I wonder if this is going to become like the goose that laid the golden egg though? I quite like the Big Game, and one of the appeals is that it's once a year and at Christmas. I doubt I'd go across the road any more often. I realise that Sarries need to grow their brand, but I'm not sure this is the right way to do it. Anyway, good luck to them...

£10 to see top class sport in a 1st class enviroment, why should it lose its appeal. Wembley is one of the best venues in the world, why are so many sceptical, I've not really seen one opinion that backs up the negativity.

Yes but if you pay £20 - £25 for a ticket at a normal game, and buy a burger or pasty and a drink you will still be £25 -£30 minimum. Pay £10 at wembley quality burgers or pasty and a drink £20 so its still cheaper !!!!!
