Frankie Sheahan is to appeal his 2 year ban
By Toni
August 7 2003
Frankie Sheahan, who was banned for two years not long ago, has appealed against the ban for "doping offences". Sheahan, the Munster hooker who has won 13 caps for Ireland and 76 Munster appearances, tested positive for Salbutamol after Munster's Heineken Cup semi-final against Toulouse.
The drug is found in inhalers used by asthma sufferers, something Shehan suffers from. He claims he forgot to inform the authorities of his condition. The reasoning for his ban was that the amount of Salbutamol found in his system was not consistent to the amount used in an inhaler.

Shehan will be 27 when the ban expires in 2005, should the appeal not be successful. The appeal will be held on September 1st in Dublin in front of Jeff Blackett, Jeff Probyn and Dr Roger Evans.
