By Spanish Tiger January 17 2010 Final Score Tigers won 21-9.
Ok, overall it was a very entertaining game. Leicester Tigers made some very nice plays, and there was a particular nice try on the second half, quick offloads from the forwards that run the ball from the 10 to the tryline.
However, the welsh boys play a great game, and perhaps the final score its a bit unfair. They were really good in the scrum but missed a couple of good opportunities, including one particular attack where they stood in the 5line for over six or seven phases, but the Tigers defense was pretty solid.
The game was tense, with good tackles and a couple of big hits and there were also a couple of brawls,it was pretty interesting to see a boxing match between two players in the first half, while most of the people was paying attention to the match, i realized that there were two guys going at it next to the touchline, pretty good blows, solid punches and suddenly they stopped. The result, yellow card for the Tigers player. The welsh boys had a yellow earlier, so at the start of the second half it was 14vs14.
12T played the whole game, but it was a bit regular, he did his job but nothing fancy. I really liked the Tigers scrumhalf, quick, electric and always shouting orders. He was always in position. He was IMO the Man of the Match.
The weather was really nice, but unfortunately the CAT stand was closed and I could not absorb some of the (highly missed here) sun that seemed to appear today for the first time in January.
Also, i was standing next to Manu Tuilagi, he came in the first half and left in the middle of the second, he didn't seemed to be very interested on the game, to be fair. Also i didn't spot any pros sitting in the crowd. That is surprising but hey, this may only be a Spanish tradition. In Spain they encouraged the senior players to come and watch us play whenever it was possible. It was a huge boost to us juniors, seeing national team players in the touchline cheering.
Sorry this is not a regular report, with names and stuff like that, but i dont know most of the names, to be honest.
Oh then it wasnt you. Next to me in the first row, there was a guy with a boy and a little girl (with one of those tiger gloves) that seemed to know one of the stewards. But yes, looking at your pics we were pretty close!
