Year of the Tiger
By TigerR
February 15 2010
Although the Chinese year does not correspond to the rugby season, I thought I'd take a look to see how the Leicester Tigers have done in 'years of the Tiger'.
The last year of the Tiger was 1998.  This was not an auspicious year but over half of the 1998-9 season was in the year of the Tiger and Leicester won the English league in 1998-9.

In 1986 Dusty Hare scored 43 points in one game, still a club record.  There was no league in 1986.

In 1926, Leicester shocked the watching public by having their forwards wear letters on the back of their jerseys to aid identification.

In 1902 England beat Ireland 6-3 at Welford Road.

In 1891, part of which was the year of the Tiger, Leicester wore green white and scarlet jerseys for the first time.
