The top 4 run-in
By Leipziger
February 26 2018

With six games to go in the Premiership this season, the Falcons have made it into the top four. The next question is, can we stay there?

Assuming that Exeter, Saracens and Wasps will make up the top three come May, I’ve predicted how I think the next four teams will perform in the run-in, and so who will grab the last playoff place:

Newcastle

Gloucester (A) – 1 point

Northampton (H) – 5 points

Worcester (A) – 4 points

Sale (H) – 5 points

Leicester (A) – 1 point

Wasps (H) – 0 points

After 16 games: 46 points

Final total: 62 points

Bath

Harlequins (A) – 4 points
Exeter (H) – 1 point

Leicester (H, Twickenham) – 4 points

Saracens (A) – 0 points

Gloucester (A) – 4 points

London Irish (H) – 5 points

After 16 games: 45 points

Final total: 63 points

Gloucester

Newcastle (H) – 4 points

London Irish (A) – 4 points

Exeter (A) – 0 points

Harlequins (H) – 4 points

Bath (H) – 1 point

Saracens (A) – 1 point

After 16 games: 44 points

Final total: 58 points

Leicester

Worcester (A) – 5 points

Wasps (H) – 0 points

Bath (A, Twickenham) – 1 point

Northampton (H) – 4 points

Newcastle (H) – 4 points

Sale (A) – 4 points

After 16 games: 42 points

Final total: 60 points

Final table, 3rd-7th

4 Bath 63 points

5 Newcastle 62 points

6 Leicester 60 points

7 Gloucester 58 points

So we could be pipped to fourth place by just a single point! Of course, this is all just my opinion. Hopefully I’ve underestimated the Falcons in a few games, but 5th wouldn’t be a bad finish anyway!
