Don't get that selection but COYS

Groom and Horne both out with injuries according to Tom Vickers on Twitter.

Horne just rested hopefully. He's had such a massive impact since arriving I'm more than happy to wrap him in cotton wool a bit!

Good to see Francis back, could switch up our attack again.

I didn't realise how much I missed getting so genuinely excited about the Saints playing, such a good feeling!

Horne and Groom carrying injuries.

Good strength in depth now looking at that squad and an ability to rotate players.

Not what I would have expected at 10/12, other way round would seem more natural but, hey, what do I know!

Assuming Horne and Groom are unfit perhaps the only surprise to me is the absence of Day in the squad unless he is also not fit. Presume Lawes is rested deliberately, especially as Hartley is back as skipper

Hope Piers and Cobus go well. We need to start really well because Glaws will come out flying. Interesting comments by Alan Dickens that Glaws had more possession last week, missed chances at key stages and were horribly punished for it.

Nervous but that side is good enough to win. Good bench.

Might be because a) Mallinder has been playing pretty well at 10 and/or as it's Francis' first game for weeks they might think starting at 12 slightly less exacting than 10 - who knows ?

Interesting indeed good bench with Smyler in reserve if needed or maybe Harry and Piers switch if needed. Get well soone Nic and Rob COYS

Defence. Suspect will both switch into first receiver a la Ford and Farrell.

Harry and Piers quite likely to be interchangeable in attack. Gives the option of two first receivers. Keep 'em guessing.

Interesting to see who kicks for goal.

I think Piers will kick.

The team looks good. I'm back looking forward to watching Saints play after a couple of dreary seasons.

As an aside it is oft said on this forum that Jim has his favourites. But with Day, Wood, Pisi, Foden and Myler not able to make the starting line ups, it suggests he just likes sticking with the team he perceives is the best making minimal changes.

let's hope Piers can ring the best out of Luther as Rob Horne has done.

Also Tom Kessel seems to have dropped down the scrum half pecking order, unless he's injured as well. Says a lot for Alex Mitchell.

Alex Waller deserves a rest for sure, but its tough to drop a player who always gives 100% and has not had an Injury to take the decision away from you. I expect he will be rested for LV= matches. One day his run will come to an end, not tomorrow though :-)

Tom Kessell must have stalled in terms of his progress.

He must be 27 by now and doesn't look likely to get ahead of Cobus, Nic and now behind Alex Mitchell.

Mitchell looked very lively in pre-season and as England U20s 9, we should have faith in him.

Sadly for Tom, sounds like he's nailed on as 21 for the Wandies for the time being

May take a few games to gel but the Piers / Harry partnership worked very well in the warm up games before Piers got injured
As above, two first receivers giving so many options off the breakdown
Looking forward to the game
What’s happening Saints
Two years of pretty staid game plann
Now coming up with passion attitude and giving backs opportunity
Still pinching myself

The whole style of play is so much better. No longer does my spirit drop looking at the 9 10 selection.
The last three years were dreadful and self inflicted. It would not be a disaster to lose but it would be great to build belief by a decent win. Hope that we don't get any injuries.

Could it be something to do with Alan Dickens taking over as attack coach, perhaps? There was a distinct improvement last season, almost from the moment the appointment was made and this season has improved on that.

HWHL you have merged the Gloucester line-up into my local Mendip mist! I can normally rectify this by looking at it on 'message board'thread rather then 'forum list' one but all I get apart from the original (Saints) 'Teams Up' is the occasional "What do you think?" advising me that if I want to post-like now for instance- to register.

Can get the Glos team from their stream obviously, just thought you should know! Regards OTS

Is there any TV stream that the game can be watched on ?

Can I just say that it’s nice that they’ve kept faith with Harry and not put Myler straight back in. Same for our back row (Who have been outstanding). In previous years Woody would have been straight back in, and this year there seems to be a different mindset. “Prove yourself in the Wandies and show me that you’re better than the man you’re replacing”.

Ace and TC are getting a decent run and the back 3 are working like a real unit. Ribbans and Patterson complement each other very well. It’s sll good stuff
Dowsons name is being mentioned a lot in interviews...
So does Dylan’s...

Excellent stuff
