Once again we face up to the oldest "open" rugby club in the world, it being open to anybody, rather than a current or ex member of a school, university or hospital and as such the third oldest rugby club in continious existence in the world after Dublin University and Edinbourgh Academical F.C. "Club" to give Blackheath it's handle used by it's supporters was founded in 1858 by Old Boys of Blackheath Propriety School. After just 158 years of playing at Rectory Field they have moved to Well Hall in Eltham for the 2016 - 17 season.
Blackheath currently occupy 7th. position in the league 23 points behind Albion with 14 wins from 28 and when they came to Brickfields in December we came out on top by 20 - 5.
Albion have to achieve eight more points in this campaign to achieve one of thier goals, that being to achieve as many points as Richmond did last season in getting promoted to the Championship with one more game to go after this one.
After this weekend, when we meet again with Blackheath there will be an extra edge to the game I'm sure with the news that Shanners was appointed the new head coach to our hosts tomorrow in February, to start duties on the 1st. July this year. A well travelled man it seems. Good luck tomorrow to the lads.
