3. Foster

4. Lemalu

5. Smith

15. Elder

16. Donnellan

17. Mitchell

For what it's worth that was a hell of a lot harder than I thought it would be and harder than our last league game, and some unlucky players now given our squad depth but would rotate I'm sure

It's a good exercise this. When you actilually have to put names on paper it brings it home how tough it is. It also highlights we are short at centre for me. Not much competition there at the minute. Also another big 8. Would like to see kiri kiri at 7.
Tough calls. Watkins elder and Davey all could go wing. Watkins was first on list a few weeks ago but Davey has been good. He gives you a more all round ability. For me you have to play Cian.

This is fun. Looks as though we're singing from similar hymn sheets. A few changes here:

1. N Mayhew
2. Buckle
3. Mitchell
4. Lemalu
5. Romaine
6. Temm
7. R Mayhew
8. Kiri kiri
9. JBB
10. Te Rure
11. Niko
12. Lucock
13. Forsyth
14. Watkins
15. Elder

16. Donnellan
17. Thomas
18. Foster
19. Smith
20. Myerscough
21. Fox
22. Davey

Nice to have a few selection headaches for a change.

Cian Romaine has to start for me. Looked really good so far. Shame Jacob isn't still here. I'd have Beck as back row cover if he were fit.

We're a bit short at hooker. What happened to TJ Harris?

Agree with JDH that cover is very thin at centre. I've asked Santa for another signing of real quality at 13.

I've assumed Dicky Beck is not ready and I struggled leaving Smithy and Hill out. Wish Jacob was with us as I'd him start at 15, moving Thoroughgood to the bench.

How lucky we are to have depth - makes a blooming change.

Started to select my team then realised Gelbel had done it for me.

Richard Beck will be back early in the New Year.

I suggest that we score 1 point for each player selected by CS plus an additional point if we get the position correct.

Just a bit of fun of course. (Sm124)

I think we need options at 12 rather than 13. Pete has great defence and boot option but is pretty one dimensional in attack. I always think the ball stalls abit or just gets trucked up abit too often at 12 for me. Or just abit for creativity, donny style, could do it. Niko floating on shoulders might help. I suppose nothing like a massive fast winger popping up through the middle to hold defenders and get the opposition thinking.

Watkins filled the hole while HIA took place on Saturday, with strength in depth now we have some ďutilityĒ players who could do a job if needed, always thought Holmes would have been a good option at centre if needed when he was here, Elder Niko Thoroughgood Watkins Davey Brown 3 from 6 back 3 players is a tricky pick maybe a centre from those guys if needed, nice to have lots of new players but donít need to get ahead of ourselves Iím sure at end of year some will move on and more will come in reckon we have enough for now,

plus if we manage to prise Jacob back from Wasps till end of season gives us even more option

Worth remembering not many weeks ago Tom Bullough scored the joint best try of the Championship that week. Can play 12 or 13 and has also appeared on the wing. Good option off the bench and would be interesting to see him play behind a more dominant pack, unlike earlier this season when he was covering when Pete was injured and we were continually on the back foot.

Yes I rate Tom. He has a good around game. I don't think you can just fill in at 12 imo. The position it too important.

Bench: Mayhew N, Donnellan, Foster, Myerscough, Romaine, Fox, *Umaga (Davey)

* long shot- Iíve had a punt at Umaga coming back (it is the season of goodwill after all) as the Premier shield league is on this weekend and then not until April. So if he is coming back thereís theoretically no reason why not in time for Donny. Failing that Davey just got the nod over Bullough. Have presumed Beck not fit- Bainbridge very unlucky

I think it is wishful thinking, to have Jacob Umaga back for the Donny match. He is playing in the Premiership Rugby Shield (the old "A" League) and Wasps have a game 30th December.

If he was available I would have him starting.

For various reasons I wasn't able to go to any of the cup games and so have no view on the recent arrivals. My memories of Castle Park always seem to include their big centres and wings ghosting through ineffectual tackling, Quigley causing us grief at the scrum and Flockhart drilling every kick at goal.

I know Bulumakau has moved on and they haven't done so well lately but I would go for the best scrummaging front row and backs who can defend. Of course, if we now have a large running back who can give them a dose of their own medicine, all the better.

If I had all the money I've spent on drink ..... I'd spend it on drink.

Yeah similar to Albert, ive been, and still am, working abroad since September so haven't been able to go to any of the cup games and can't offer a view on who might be selected.

I will say though that I can't wait to get back and see this new team play. Let's hope they can carry the current form through now we're back to the serious business of the league.

Anyone else who wants a punt on this should not delay as the team is normally announced midday Friday, so less than 24 hours to go.
