For the uninitiated social networking websites often employ a ‘newsfeed’ of updated events from all of your friends and contacts. Common items listed include becoming friends with another user, attending an event writing a public wall message to a friend, joining a group of like minded individuals, updating a relationship status, updating a profile and poking a friend (a friendly gesture).
