Food and Drink
Inside the ground there are 19 bars. The problem is getting served from 40 minutes before kick off. You can buy burgers, Chinese take away, curry and other snacks inside the ground. However, the choice of beer is limited to Everards. There are also burger vans outside the ground. Ground conditions prohibit the entry of alcohol purchased outside the stadium but this is more honoured in the breach than the observance.
Around the ground and in the city centre which is within reasonable walking distance there are many pubs and food outlets from fish and chips to full gourmet menus. Take your pick. However, for pre-match atmosphere the following are recommended and used by many Tiger fans :
| 1) Nearest the ground, 300 yards at most is The Swan and Rushes with good food and a good range of beers. To find it go to the ticket office then walk back towards town. Cross the road to The Victory. Walk past The Victory towards the infirmary away from the ground. Just past the infirmary is The Swan and Rushes. | ![]() |
2) In the Town centre The Hogshead in Market Street. A good range of beers and food.
| 3) Also near the town centre in Humberstone Gate is The Walkabout. This is fast becoming the rugby pub in Leicester with frequent rugby related events, including visits from players. It provides a free bus to and from the ground. | ![]() |
After the game The bars are open in the ground. A tradition has built up of having a group perform in the Tiger bar near the score board after the game and impromptu performances from certain players are not unknown.
Leicester is a multi-cultural city with a large community of Asian origin. This means there are some excellent authentic curry houses. All on London road near the train station are :
The Tiffin ( a bit above the run of the mill )
The Curry House
The Nila Palace ( recommended by the site Editor)
To find London Road , leave the ground by the end opposite the scoreboard. Cross the road and go down Tigers Way opposite the ground by the traffic lights. Continue until Tigers Way becomes Waterloo Way.
( Enjoy the name if you are French). Waterloo Way ends opposite the train station. Turn right into London Road for the above three establishments.
