Attractions in Leicester
Shopping There are two big shopping centres reasonably near the ground, The Haymarket and The Shires. Mrs. Razcal prefers The Shires as it is more modern and has a better range of interesting shops. There has been a market on the same site in Leicester for over 600 years and the range of stalls is very wide. |

The National Space Centre This has won prizes as a visitor attraction. You can see real space vehicles and there are many interactive exhibits. It is well worth a visit. It is reasonably near the city centre but it is best to catch a bus from St. Margarets bus station. A family ticket costs around £22. |

Museums
Not far from the ground is The New Walk museum which is free. There are fossils , paintings and collections of insects and animals.
Cinemas
Next to the ground behind Safeways is a multi screen Odeon cinema.
Diwali and Christmas Lights
The biggest celebration of Diwali outside India takes place in Leicester. Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights and there is a magnificent display of lights along Belgrave road during November which are left up in December as Christmas lights.
Getting a bus from St. Margarets bus station which goes up Belgrave Road (102) is the best way to see them. After dark of course!. Or park in Sainsburys car park by the Belgrave fly over and walk up. There are several good Asian restaurants on the Belgrave road.
So family members or friends not going to the match should find plenty to do and if the match result did not quite work out for you it is still possible to have a good time in Leicester.
