Attractions in Leicestershire
There are several places to visit in and around Leicestershire.
Foxton Locks
The longest flight of canal locks in Europe is found 10 miles south of Leicester just off the A6. It is a good place for a walk and there is a canal side pub.
Bradgate Park
Containing a herd of deer and the ruins of the house of LadyJane Grey , very briefly Queen of England it also provides good walking opportunities. A good place for a picnic.
Conkers
North of Leicester is The National Forest Visitor Centre , known as Conkers. This explains the importance of trees, has interactive exhibits and provides the opportunity for a pleasant walk. A good place for a picnic.
Barnsdale
Geoff Hamilton’s gardens can be visited at Barnsdale near Oakham
Rutland Water
The largest artificial lake in Europe. You can walk or hire a bike to get round the 17 mile perimeter path. A good place for a picnic.
