Large's 2008 Selfish Poll - Part 2

Here we are for part two of the Selfish Poll. Most of the usual suspects are in there for the usual reasons. Is it a case of nothing progressing, or a case of nobody being able to catch up? Either way, after over a decade of professionalism has spawned moves and redevelopments at all the clubs, things are settling into a groove for the foreseeable future, I think.

PART II: CLUBS

1. BEST PERFORMANCE BY A SARACENS TEAM:

Second half v Biarritz at VR. If only we could play like that every week.

2. WORST PERFORMANCE BY A SARACENS TEAM:

Bath's 45-0 first half performance had a lot to do with them being so good, not just Sarries being so bad. The worst I saw this year was the Quins home game.

3. FAVOURITE CLUB TO VISIT FOR AN AWAY GAME:

Viadana hands down. Better even than Biarritz, and that takes some doing. If pressed for GP only, I'd have to say Leeds. I'm gonna miss going to Headingley next season, unless Mrs. L. will give me a pass to see the Leeds v Otley derby.

4. LEAST FAVOURITE CLUB TO VISIT FOR AN AWAY GAME:

Same this year as every year. Sale.  I need not elaborate as to why becase you all know.

5. BEST OPPOSITION FANS:

Worcester. They keep telling us they are, so they must be.

6. WORST OPPOSITION FANS:

Nobody stood out this season en masse, but the prize must go to the Bath fan at the Rec who, after his side had just put 66 points on us just whinged about why Barkley and Borthwick would dare move to other clubs. Tosser.

7. FAVOURITE OTHER GP TEAM (NON-SARACENS):

I don't have one per se so I always go for the one that, in my opinion, played the best rugby. So this season it has to be Bath as I really liked the way they kept the ball alive, yet were also able to slug it out in a forward contest. Their win over Gloucester at the Rec was one of the best team pefformances of the season.

8. LEAST FAVOURITE TEAM:

Munster. The new Leicester, only wiyhout the flair.

9. BEST BAR:

Viadana in Europe. Supporters club bar at Headingley in the GP.

10. WORST BAR:

London Irish. I still fail to see the attraction of the diddly-eye stuff. God alone knows what it must be like listenting to it every other week.

11. BEST 'SOLIDS':

Leicester press room. Bacon rolls, pies, curry, Everard's Tiger. Bliss.

12. WORST 'SOLIDS':

Twickenham broadcaster's room. There weren't any.
