Large's 2008 Selfish Poll Part 3
By Large
June 3 2008
Here's the last part of the Large Selfish Poll 2008. There are some memorable bits in there to make up for the disappointment of losing two semi-finals and plummeting from third in the league at Christmas, to eighth at the end of the season. Roll on 2008-09.

PART III: MISCELLANEOUS

1. BEST SARRIES RUGBY MOMENT OF THE SEASON:
Glen Jackson's drop goal (yes, I said drop goal) against Ospreys that made the game safe.

2. WORST SARRIES RUGBY MOMENT OF THE SEASON:

Nigel Owens (more of him later) penalising Hilly for holding on after three Munster defenders flopped over him and prevented release.

3. FUNNIEST RUGBY MOMENT OF THE SEASON:

Cencus being shown the outside by Bristol wing Tom Arscott and Cencus not only taking it, but showing him a clean pair of heels. Priceless.

4. BEST REFEREE:

Nobody really stood out in the GP, so it'll have to go to Wayne Barnes for his unflinching performance in the face of All Black whining.

5. WORST REFEREE:

Nigel Owens. Think Dicko's perfectly legit try when he stuck out his leg at the back of that scrum. Think the penalty try awarded to us against Biarritz that really shouldn't have been. Think 80 minutes against Munster. Think again, ERC and IRB, the bloke's patently not up to international standard.

6. BEST MEDIA PERFORMANCE BY A RUGBY CELEBRITY OR BROADCASTER:

Alistair Hignell. Great commentator, thoroughly nice man. Higgy will be missed.

7. WORST MEDIA PERFORMANCE BY A RUGBY CELEBRITY OR BROADCASTER:

Sky Sports and their relentless fawning over Wasps and Munster.

8. BEST CONTRIBUTION TO THESARACENS.COM MESSAGE BOARD:

Me when I decided not to post any more.
