Unfortunately I don't have addresses for regulars such as TCM2007, Dorset Boy, Susanne, Andy R, Rally, Malco etc otherwise I would have included them in the original posting.
I'd like to hear from many others so, if you want to supply me with your responses to the questions please e-mail me at glenleat@btinternet.com. It's also another good way for me to expand my list of contacts.
Let's start with the man himself, Mr Coochie Coo. When did you first start supporting Bath Rugby? Early 80's when my youngest was a ball boy. What made you a supporter? Lived about 10mins away and easy to get down to matches. Can you remember anything about the first game you ever saw at the Rec? Not really but it was a Welsh team, think we won! What has been your best moment as a supporter of Bath Rugby? Winning European Cup. What has been your worst moment as a supporter of Bath Rugby? Current situation with the players and lack of discipline at the club. Who do you regard as the best player of all time for Bath? Cooch!!!!!! Which players from the Golden Decade do you think would be a success in the modern game? Tricky, Guscott, Swifty, Haag, Redman, Hall, Lyle, Spurrell, Robbo, Dawsey, Adebayo, (probably not Cooch!!!) Which opposition player (from any era) would you like to have moved to Bath and why? In the golden era we didn't need any imports but should have taken Mike Catt back! How confident are you that Bath Rugby will be at the Rec in five years time? Very confident Describe what Bath Rugby means to you in three words. Simply the best!

Moving on to Annie Blackthorn our very own Ann Widdicombe, agree with her or disagree with her there is no denying her views are forthright. Perhaps if we did have our own ERE Fantasy Government League, Annie could be the Speaker. When did you first start supporting Bath Rugby? On moving to Bath in 2003. Believe it or not one of the main reasons I bought a flat in central Bath was so that I could walk to professional rugby! Once settled I then worked in central Bath and discovered that many of my colleagues were either ST holders (the older ones) or that they still played amateur rugby but went along to matches to watch Bath and that at least half the population took an interest in the Club, even if only to ask if they had won on Saturday. What made you a supporter? This may shock some, but because I am a lifelong fan of the game, and now live in Bath! The myth about my being a Bristolian started because I grew up in Bristol, my grandfather and later Uncle took me to the old Mem (and Cardiff Arms Park). in the 50's, my home was opposite a rugby pitch. I married a rugby player, his brother played for Cambridge, my sons both played at school and one son went on to play so that I have made teas, chauffered, driven back in numb silence after a loss, washed kit, taken to A&E, rubbed sore backs and limbs etc. I left Bristol 45 years ago. Since then I have variously supported school sides, local London South sides, Esher, Quins, Northampton etc. and apart from travelling to watch Bath play don't visit. What keeps me a supporter at Bath? Friendships made, wonderful environment at the ground, apart from the loos and dire state of the Clubhouse bar and ERE of course! Can you remember anything about the first game you ever saw at the Rec? Not really but it was just after we had won the World Cup and perhaps Catt was playing although not for very long!!! But I remember going to a pre-season friendly at the old ground at Swansea on the Supporters Coach, watching the Ospreys running out in their fancy gear, DG was acting as waterboy, which amused me enormously - I was a bit green about how professional rugby worked in those days. Oh, and by chance, met John Connolly in the middle of the pitch after the game. What has been your best moment as a supporter of Bath Rugby? Belly's try last season! Watching the skill and sheer unpredictability of Butch's talent, Claassens bossing the pack on his arrival. Beating Wasps Beating Leicester The Glaws game in the mud Many of those breakaway tries over the seasons. Winning away - just such a good feeling as you commiserate with the home fans!!!! What has been your worst moment as a supporter of Bath Rugby? Losing away when the odds were in our favour! Got used to it though! When Brian Ashton turned tail on us to pursue his own interests. The past few weeks which have left a nasty taste. This isn't just the appalling facts that some of the players allegedly have been continuing to use cocaine despite Matt's almost tragic outcome, but the reaction and scurrilous rumours in private conversations and on the board including the mentioning of specific players names who may prove to have been completely innocent which I find very distasteful. Mud sticks. The other uneasy sense that the Club itself turned a blind eye until the end of the season, and apparently did not get the whole squad on the mat with severe warnings post Matt's demise. That I am not entirely convinced that they have been entirely honest in pinpointing the three who have left, and that the Club have demonstrated a very amateurish closed attitude to the PR with immensely damaging and I believe a lasting negative image. It will take years for the ‘brand' to recover. I was staggered to learn that Kate Oram was on holiday and remained on holiday. Did they quietly consult PR professionals as well as lawyers? The Club knew this was all going to be investigated but the post-Church incident blew it out of all proportion and out of control. From what I have heard a couple of weeks ago from a senior player, there is now a splintered, not just split, squad which will create problems of getting them going, motivated and up for the next season. We will just have to wait and see how many of the younger talented players whose contracts are up for renewal next year want to stick around and sign on again. So I will renew my ST, but purely for the players and middle range staff who must have been having a really difficult time and who else would I support? Walcot? Who do you regard as the best player of all time for Bath? Having thought about this, I feel it's almost impossible to compare the current players with the amateurs of yesteryear. Many distinguished names of their era 15-25 years ago came to mind, but it's a totally different environment and indeed game to 10-15 years ago. But certainly not Catt! Which players from the Golden Decade do you think would be a success in the modern game? Many of them, but they'd have to knuckle down and get on with boring repetitive training, strict diet re. body fat percentages, having their private lives fully available and sensationalized if they let their hair down inappropriately! Which opposition player (from any era) would you like to have moved to Bath and why? No opinion. (Blimey, that's a first! GtE) How confident are you that Bath Rugby will be at the Rec in five years time? Very. But probably with the same format with a revamp or two. Mainly because I don't think the money will be forthcoming to redevelop in style, as the planning consent would be endlessly picked over, costing a small fortune in architect & legal fees. Unlike other projects e.g. Bath Spa, Holborne Museum, public money would not be available to subsidise these indulgences. Whether it will be in the Premiership is debatable. Describe what Bath Rugby means to you in three words. Sorry can't wax lyrical. With three children, grandchildren and other interests, its just another important part of my life. I have watched, been involved with and loved the game played at all levels all my life so doubt that if Bath Rugby didn't exist I wouldn't be watching some other outfit. It's a very special valuable part that I wouldn't like to lose but which currently is very tainted and jaded. The past two months have been a literally disillusioning, and I will never feel quite the same about the Club I have supported without question for the past six years. I still admire and applaud the players and their dedication, skill and performances on the pitch. They are just young men with the luck to have well above average talent and skills but they are all too human at times.
