The Warriors on the other had beat Bucharest, despite getting bogged down and then gave a much more clinical performance against Pertraca Padova and scoring 10 tries in the process.
Both teams have had members of their coaching staff confirmed as leaving, Phillipe Saint Andre is off to Toulon at the end of the season and more sensationally Clive Griffiths left his position as Head Coach with immediate effect, with no one new to fill his role, Mike Ruddock will be Director of Rugby and Head Coach. So all in all a lot of water has passed under the bridge in the 28 days between the 2 attempts to play this game.
Worcester have had a season with injuries that Sale fans can empathise with as they had one very similar a couple of years ago. The latest worries for Wuss fans in Chris Pennell, who has a second ACL injury in 2 years and Mat Cox who has broken his jaw. The current long term injuries are Sam Tuitoupou (ACL), Miles Benjamin (Broken Leg), Chris Horsman (Neck) and Matthew Jones (foot). Good news is that Marcel Garvey has recovered from, what was a career threatening condition in his hip and is back in training and declared his self match fit last week as did Tom Wood who’s speedy “Lathamesque “ recovery from a shoulder injury is very good news indeed.
On a personal note I am quite happy that the match was postponed as I get to friends from the North twice in a month. They travelled down too early so didn’t get to hear the match was off till they got here. But we managed to down a few beers in commiseration with them and look forward to their company again this weekend.
As for the players? Well some have had to cancel trips to see relatives and holidays to accommodate the game. Hope next weekend off will suffice.
Hope the weather doesn’t make a difference and the game is a good one.. See or hear you all there!!
