The link below will take you to scanned in photo copies of a magazine called ‘The Goal - The Chronicle of Football’ (which is what Rugby was called at the time) which was published for the first time on 22nd November 1872, 2 years after the founding of Worcester RFC.

It was a national publication and WRFC acquired some copies of the first edition and some other pages that have match reports and references to local clubs. The magazine only lasted a few years but the pages give an interesting view of Rugby at that time.

Many thanks to Worcester RFC for letting me have copies of The Goal. The 5 pages we have are the first Edition pages 1 and page 4 which has a report on game between Worcester and Worcester Cathedral School (past and present) which is now Kings School. It's interesting to note the number of players!

The other three pages are from late 1873 to Jan 1874 and contain match reports for Worcester games against Hereford Rugby Club and Bromsgrove Rugby Club.
