Mefin Davies moved to Pontypridd after the arrival of Barry Williams at Neath and he quickly established himself as first choice hooker. After a first successful season with Pontypridd, Mefin was then made club captain and was rewarded for some excellent performances by being called up to the Wales squad for the summer tests.

Overall, Davies is an asset to any team but with competition from Andrew Joy and Mathew "Smiler" Rees, Davies is by no means guaranteed a place in the starting line up.
