The New Zealander Sonny Parker was brought to Pontypridd on the recommendation of the then Wales coach Graham Henry.

At first he played out on the wing for Pontypridd but quickly established himself as an outside centre and has gained much praise for his powerful style of play which allows him to break through defences.

In the Autumn of 2002 Sonny was awarded 4 Wales caps but since then he has suffered a series of injuries to his arm which has ruled him out of action.

Hopefully, Sonny will regain full fitness and be able to join the Celtic Warriors early in the season in their quest for silverware but no-one should be too surprised if he gains a place in the Wales squad for the World Cup in October which will mean his domestic season will start in December.
