The game kicked off about 10 minutes late as people rushed from work to the game, as I entered the ground I saw what I believe to be the new logo which was a Warrior holding a shield which was the previous badge. I thought it very impressive.
The Warriors were given an impressive cheer by the home crowd as they took to the field accompanied by the "Eye of the tiger" music.
The 1st few minutes of the game were played at a pace and was very physical and there were mistakes a plenty.
The Warriors set pieces were again far from satisfactory, the scrum went back and to many jumpers were missed in the line out.
Jinks kicked an early penalty to make it 3-0, after all his points the Chesney Hawkes number "I am the one and only" was played.
Anyway as soon as the backs got the ball for the first time Jinks sent out a miss pass in the midfield, I didn't see what happened but the ball got out to Havilli who scored in the corner.
After that Penalties were exchanged and Sale scored a try towards the end of the first half.
Half Time Warriors 13 Sale 10
The 2nd Half was more open and expansive than the 1st, Havilli scored a lovely 2nd after a pop pass was delivered from Bishop, Havilli dashed the remaining 60metres to finish in the corner.
Havilli completed his hat trick in about the 70th minute, this time chip over the top and he out sprinted his opposite number to finish once again in the corner, this try was celebrated by his traditional raven like pose and he saluted the crowd on the way back to the biggest cheer of the night.
Sale scored a late try after the sin binning of Horsman for fighting but the Warriors won easily in the end 33-22.
Men of the match.
Neil Jenkins was superb, kicking was 100% 7 out of 7 he kicked out of hand well, his passing was spot on he even hit someone back the tackle. He will be vital for us this season.
"Idris" Havilli bounced back after a poor showing last week, he set the game on fire with his lightening pace combined with power, he will become a cult idol amongst Warriors fans as he did with Bridgend fans last season. My man of the match.
Where can we improve?
Set pieces, pushed back in most scrums. Line out ball to inconsistent.
Ball retention, too slow and lost sometimes in contact.
What I liked?
Our backs have the pace and talent to win games, I truly believe if we can sort our forwards out we can go far.
Score Breakdown
Warriors 33, Tries Havilli (3), Cons Jenkins (3), Pens Jenkins (4), Sale 22
