Edinburgh No Match For Blues

Edinburgh No Match For Bl
By Andrew Collins March 29 2008
A 20-0 win for the Cardiff Blues has re-ignited a small flame of belief in fans ahead of next weekends European Quarter Final trip to Toulouse. After last weeks woeful Strady display, moral was low for fans, many of whom will be making the trip. But this result keeps the flickering flame burning.

Most encouragingly for Dai Young, was the return of their magnificent winger, Tom James, who secured a brace for himself, while fellow winger Jamie Roberts scored the other. There was also a notable display from scrum half Jason Spice, who repeatedly got the better of Scottish No.9 Mike Blair.

There was also an unscathed return for Nick Robinson, following 5 months on the sidelines. His contribution was small, but the 20 minute run out will have done the fly half a world of good.

A sturdy defence and good ball retention were in force as the Blues kept a clean sheet away from home for the second time this season, Bristol being the other. They'll have to keep that sort of statistic going if they are to have any chance out in Toulouse.

It was the XV that everyone expects to start next weekend, with the only swap Robinson for Flanagan at 10, so it's encouraging for fans to see such an enigmatic result just 9 days before the biggest match of the regions short history.
