Walking in the Lanes' Memory
By Vespasian April 29 2008
As London Wasps rounds the last bend and sprints flat out into the finishing straight of the Guinness Premiership season, an intrepid band of supporters in hues of blackened gold and cherry white will set off on what has become a traditional, "leisurely", long march for good causes. Over £2,500 has been raised so far...

Two season ago, "Walking for Jack" raised funds by walking along the South Coast to celebrate the memory of a young London Irish support who enjoyed life to the full. Last year the trek took in several rugby clubs en route from Adams Park to Leicester to riase funds for the Matt Hampson Trust.

This season the walk will be in honour of Bram and Chris Lane, the Tewkesbury RFC flood victims. The route will take the walkers through the April showers and into the May Bank Holiday, from Kingsholm, Gloucester taking in Cheltenham, double-backing to Castle Grim for a charity night, Stow-on-the-Wold RFC, Chipping Norton RFC, Bicester RFC, and Chinnor RFC before arriving in good time to watch the top four clash between London Wasps and Gloucester.

You are welcome to join the walkers along the way, and particularly in the evenings at the various clubs. For more details, see the page dedicated to the walk in memory of Bram and Chris Lane on the London Wasps official website.

Cheques made payable to either: "Salvation Army" or "Breast Cancer Care" - the two charities nominated by the Lane family - may be be sent to:

Barney Burnham,
C/OLondon Wasps,
Twyford Avenue Sports Ground,
Twyford Avenue,
Acton,
London W3 9QA

Hope the first day has gone well for you all and you didn't get too drenched.

One down - four and a half to go....

Just keep thinking 'These boots were made for walking....'

The (Sm134) will shine tomorrow....

They'll be ordering wetsuits and snorkels after the last 48 hours

Can confirm that they were all totally sodden after yesterday's leg. They were not amused as Dean Ryan sped past them in his car, as they were walking into Cheltenham, beeping his horn. winking smiley

I had the pleasure of giving Skippy and another of your fans a lift to the club last night, and again this morning, and they seemed remarkably optimistic, given the big black cloud hanging over the area, that the weather was going to hold off today winking smiley

A fantastic gesture and effort from all who are taking part.
