
Captain fantastic Xavier Rush led the Cardiff Blues to their first Heineken Cup Quarter Final last season, as the region enjoyed their biggest success since their formation. Rushy joined the Blues in 2005, and was installed as captain a season later after becoming a massive hit with players and fans alike. The 8 cap Kiwi won Supporters Player of the Year in his debut season, and has become a cult figure in his short time with the region.
This year, Xav has relinquished the role to Paul Tito, but remains one the squads most influential and important players. He will miss the first 6 weeks of the season, but will be back to make an impression on Cardiff's quest for silverware in the European Cup, EDF Cup and Magner's League.
