Despite seemingly being around forever at the Cardiff Arms Park, Nick Robinson begins the season just 26 years of age. He's established himself as a necessity in any successful Cardiff side, and has undoubtedly overcome the ‘inconsistent' tag that followed him in his early seasons.
The wonderfully talented fly half has been through a fair bit in his 7 years since his debut against Caerphilly in the final match of the 00-01 season, including missing an entire year having been struck down with a mystery virus that left him bed bound for nearly 3 months. Last season, Nick showed his massive talent, excelling the Blues to equal their finest Magner's League finish, as well as qualify for the Heineken Cup Quarter finals, although another injury meant he was unfit to start the match against Toulouse.
This season sees Nicky receive perhaps his biggest competition for the 10 shirt, which he has made his own over the last 5 years, in the shape of Ceri Sweeney. Only time will tell whether he rises to the challenge, and we see the very best of one of Wales' most underrated players, but if he can stay injury free and perform to the ability fans know that he can, a place on Wales' summer tour could well be in his reach.
