Sowden-Taylor Try Rescues
Cardiff scraped a narrow victory in Ireland over basement boys Connacht, but did little to impress in a poor quality match.
As ever it was a game of two halves in Galway as the wind largely dictated play, with Connacht getting all the first half points, and the Blues doing the same in the second.
Ian Keatley got the home side in the lead after 13 minutes with the first penalty attempt of the match, before Ray Ofisa Treviranus scored a try which was unconverted. With 7 minutes to go of the half Keatley made amends for his earlier missed conversion with another penalty, but then a mini disaster struck the Blues.
A clash of heads between brother's Jamie and Nicky Robinson saw both taken off for treatment on 36 minutes, leaving an unusual Blues back line of Flannagan at outside half , Sweeny 12 and Tom James at 13 with Chris Czekaj coming onto the wing.
And if that wasn't bad enough, Rhys Thomas earned himself a yellow card with just a minute left of the half, Keatley slotted the penalty to give a comprehensive half time lead.

Nick Robinson returned to the field early in the second half having recovered from his blood injury, but a concussed Jamie was unable to come back on.
Ben Blair scored his first penalty of the match with Cardiff still down to 14 men, and scored his second shortly after Thomas' arrival back on the pitch. Any potential come back was being strong resisted by the home side, as the Blues had to wait nearly 20 minutes for their next score, Blair again on target to put his side just 5 points behind on 69 minutes.
There was a short delay while the referee received treatment and Ritchie Rees replaced Spice at scrum half, but with just 2 minutes to go, Robin Sowden-Taylor sent yet another message to Welsh bosses with a try to bring the Blues level.
The 26 year old flanker was one of just two squad players released to play for his region this weekend (Andrew Bishop the other), with Scarlets blindside Daf Jones getting the openside shirt ahead of him. Sowden-Taylor was the Blues Man of the Match against Glasgow a fortnight ago, and tonight's performance must surely make Warren Gatland take notice.
Blair converted to give Cardiff a 2 point lead going into injury time, and scored another penalty with the final kick of the game for a 14 point personal tally.

I've heard he's been doing ok for CRFC. TBH, it was always going to take him a season playing at that level to really get back into it, but yeah i suppose now's about the time you'd expect him back to something like the old Czekaj.
He's fortunate in that we have enough wing cover that he doesn't need to rush back too quickly, but yeah, i'd like to see him featuring a bit mo0re for the Blues before the end of the season.
Quote:i tend to fly with ryan air from bristol its cheaper than flying from cardiff. as long as u book a couple of weeks in advance and then you get the tickets either from our ticket office or when you are over there. just look on google for cheap hotels you tend to pay per room not per person in ireland and works out bout 40 quid for a double let me know if you fancy an away gameBlue_Rose
