(Thomas) Rhys Thomas was born in Newport, but was brought into the Cardiff youth set up at a young age.
He signed proffessionally for Cardiff aged 20, the same year the regions were brought in. He has had a fine 3 years with the Blues, establishing himself firmly as the number 1 hooker in the squad, and more recently making himslef number 1 hooker for Wales.
Aged 23, Mike Ruddock is a keen admirer of Rhys, prefering him to Gloucester's Mefin Davies, clearly with the World Cup on his mind.
He confirmed his future with the Blues in 2005, by signing a deal that will see him at Cardiff until the end of 07/08 season. He is a great player, who makes up an impressive all Welsh front row for the capital.
