Blues Sign Allinson

Transfer News
By Andrew Collins
June 24 2006
There are rumours that the Blues have signed 19-year old Darren Allinson from the Scarlets U19's squad.

Allinson will become the Blues 3rd choice scrum half behind former Scarlets Mike Phillips and Wayne Evans. At just 19, he's a real gamble by Young who is likely to miss explosive scrum half Phillips through call up's, and has Evans injured for the opening month, he could well be called upon.

He was part of Wales' Grand Slam under 19's squad and has been a regular with Llanelli Scarlets U19's, though has no regional experience.

The transfer is at the moment unconfirmed, but it's thought a deal has already been struck.

He would play the majority of his rugby with the Cardiff Blues youth team, though it's thought he may well replace Evans at Ponty.
