Wales vs Australia - Match Preview
By Zippy
November 3 2006
Match preview ahead of the Wales vs Australia clash this Saturday at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. Australia will be looking for revenge after last years defeat.

Wales: Kevin Morgan (Newport Gwent Dragons); Gareth Thomas (Toulouse), Tom Shanklin (Cardiff Blues), Gavin Henson (Ospreys), Shane Williams (Ospreys); Stephen Jones (Llanelli Scarlets), Dwayne Peel (Llanelli Scarlets); Gethin Jenkins (Cardiff Blues), Matthew Rees (Llanelli Scarlets), Adam Jones (Ospreys), Ian Evans (Ospreys), Ian Gough (Newport Gwent Dragons), Jon Thomas (Ospreys), Martyn Williams (Cardiff Blues), Ryan Jones (Ospreys).
Replacements: Rhys Thomas (Cardiff Blues), Duncan Jones (Ospreys), Gavin Thomas (Llanelli Scarlets), Alun Wyn Jones (Ospreys), Mike Phillips (Cardiff Blues), James Hook (Ospreys), Mark Jones (Llanelli Scarlets).

Zippy On Wales:

Duncan Jones non inclusion is a shocker, he hasn't hit the heights of last season but has done nothing to deserve getting dropped.

Horsman misses out because of a shocking decision by Premier rugby that could now rule him out of 2 games instead of one.

Alfie should have been picked at 12 ahead of Henson, he looked sharp there for Toulouse on the weekend.

Mathew Rees is the Llanelli hooker Pat, a surprise choice ahead of Rhys Thomas, and tends to be too hit and miss for my liking.

Jonathan Thomas on the flank may well be a shock inclusion for some including me, I thought we'd have gone for the agression of Popham at 8 and picked R Jones on the blindside.

Australia: C Latham (Queensland Reds); C Rathbone, L Tuqiri (NSW Waratahs), S Larkham, C Shepherd (Western Force); M Rogers (NSW Waratahs), M Giteau (Western Force); A Baxter, T McIsaac (Western Force), R Blake (Queensland Reds), N Sharpe (Western Force), D Vickerman (NSW Waratahs), R Elsom, P Waugh (NSW Waratahs, captain), W Palu (NSW Waratahs).

Replacements: B Cannon (Western Force), B Robinson, M Chisholm (ACT Brumbies), S Hoiles, J Valentine (Queensland Reds), M Gerrard, A Ashley-Cooper.
