Biography: Either as a winger, centre or most recently as a full back Gareth Thomas has been a mainstay in the Welsh team since making his debut and scoring a hatrick in the World cup opener against Japan in 1995. His length of the field interception effort at the old Arms Park in defeat to Australia in 1996 will live long in the memory.

Alfie was a permanent fixture during the Graham Henry inspired ten match winning streak, but Thomas's failed to match that form at international level again up untill the six nations of 2003, where he was Wales's stand out player.

Before replacing Garan Evans after ony four minutes of Wales's 2003 World cup group game in 1995, the Warriors' only appearances at full back were during a short spell whilst at Cardiff, but Thomas was so exceptional at 15, he stayed there for the quarter final defeat to England.

In Wales' final Six Nations' match against Italy at the Millennium stadium, Thomas broke Ieaun Evans's Welsh try scoring record of 33, having equaled it the week before at Twickenham.
