| McBryde, Robin
Hooker Biography: Wales's former strongest man is admittedly one of those frustrating players, who for one area could be up there with the best number two's in the world. Gog McBryde's inability to hit his jumper at a regular rate has stifled what could have been a very successful career indeed. Garin Jenkins' retirement in 2001, allowed the long time Scarlet to play his way into Graham Henry's good books, some how earning himself a place in the Kiwi's Lions tour squad. In fairness though McBryde does possess a physical presence that few can match, putting in some big hits round the park. Despite near endless criticism 2003-04 proved to be his best international season for some time. Time may be running out for him though in Welsh colours, with the more dynamic Gareth Williams emerging as a credible hooking option. Site Awards: |
