Biography: Sonny Parker looked all set for a re-union with his former youth coach at Auckland Graham Henry, until the Kiwi coach departed Wales in February 2002. However Parker out-lived the coach who had encouraged him to leave Italian club Calvisano and join Pontypridd and qualify for Wales through residency, making his international debut seven months after Henry had left.

Another Kiwi coach in Steve Hansen ear-marked Parker as a key member of his Welsh squad, unfortunately due to Sonny's abrasive and committed style, a shoulder injury has dogged his chances of holding down a regular place through out.
