| Llewellyn, Gareth
Lock Biography: Like a Duracell Rabbit Gareth Llewellyn just keeps on going and going. In Wales' 2004 Six Nations game with Italy Llewellyn broke the Welsh cap record previously held by Neil Jenkins. Making his debut in Wales 9-34 defeat to New Zealand in Cardiff in 1989 alongside Phil Davies in the second row, Llewellyn was a near ever-present for Wales over the next decade at lock or sometimes filling in flanker. Under Graham Henry Llewellyn's international days looked over, however a change in coach saw Steve Hansen hand him a recall much to the dismay of most Welsh rugby fans. Llewellyns' lineout abilities have always allowed him to play his way back into international contention, but after a fued with Ospreys coach Lyn Jones Lewellyn now 35 finds himself turning out at semi pro level unlikely to add anymore caps. But never say never. Site Awards: |
