Biography: Despite being Wales' only out and out number eight since his debut in June 2003 against Australia, Popham has only really been a fringe player under Steve Hansen, making the bench if other injuries in the back row have permitted.

A strong ball carrier who may struggle for international honours after turning down a move home to Wales, to remain in the Zurich Premiership with Yorkshire club Leeds.

Back in 2000 Newport product Popham was touted as a future Welsh captain, making the replacements bench against Scotland in the six Nations of that year.
