Rugby Legends Pitch In for Children's Charity
A host of former international rugby players will be showcasing their skills at Richmond Athletic Ground on Saturday when England Legends take on Ireland Legends to commemorate the 25th anniversary of children's charity Wooden Spoon.
Kicking off at 10.30am, and just a short distance from Twickenham, the fixture will provide an excellent start to the day for fans attending that afternoon's RBS 6 Nations fixture between England and Ireland. The game promises to be a thrilling encounter, with ex-British and Irish Lions Ben Clarke (England), Mick Galway and Tyrone Howe (both Ireland) among those taking part. Admission price is £5, with all proceeds going to Wooden Spoon.

To date, the charity has donated over £13 million to causes throughout the UK and Ireland.

On returning home the proposal to play golf for the spoon attracted the interest of fellow English supporters. Over 100 people attended that golf day at Farnham and by the end of the evening £8450 had been raised. The funds were cashed in for a minibus purchased for the Park Special Needs School in Aylesbury. The charity was born...
