England Senior Squad and the 'A' Team beaten on their summer tours - Thank goodness for the England Sevens, they did us proud in the final round of the IRB Sevens at Twickenham.

June 2004 - In Review!

Well an eventful month, lots of downs for the Elite Senior Squad touring in the Southern Hemisphere and also for the 'A' Team competing in the Churchill Cup in Canada. The only team to really hold the torch for us this month was the Sevens - Well Done Lads - Excellent Win!

England win IRB London Sevens

England successfully defended their IRB Emirates London Sevens title at Twickenham this
month beating world champions New Zealand, 22-19, on the final day of the 2003/04 World Series Sevens tournament.

They finished second overall in the eight match Series behind New Zealand having won three of the eight tournaments in George, South Africa, Hong Kong and London.

As already said the England Senior Squad did not have a happy trip to the land of OZ - no more Red Slippers for them? In fact they were mauled by two large rugby nations and ended up belly flop, tired and miserable. One good thing I feel that came out of the Tour from Hell II, was that it will have ignited the fighting spirit once more both in players, coaches and management. Roll on the Autumn Internationals, when they will all spar once more in the arena known at the Home of Rugby. Match previews and reports if you wish to read them - get a stiff drink first eh?

Second Test............... England Expects All Blacks Win in Auckland

Then we had a re-run of what was supposed to be the Rugby World Cup Final - how everyone made that out I am not sure really as only half a dozen players from the Rugby World Cup toured but there you go?
