England Rugby Football Union gets tough with members who have sold on their international tickets!

Reacting to the RFU statement Pertemps Bees director of rugby, Phil Maynard, has called for clubs found guilty of violating the Rugby Football Union's ticket policy to be expelled from the league.  "Going to Twickenham is a great day out and if anyone is selling tickets for profit they should be thrown out of the league," he said.

"Getting tickets is a privilege and going to watch England is a big occasion for the whole club. We went down twice last year and although we were spread over the ground we had a fantastic time. At Pertemps Bees we really value our allocation and so should others," Maynard added.

It is of Unofficial England Rugby's opinion that most clubs and fans do value these tickets, certainly the posters on our site do and others on the various Zurich Premiership Sportnetwork.net sites.

What would be interesting is if on match days the RFU did something about the touts that flaunt tickets for sale up and down outside the stadium.  How come they are unable to sort this problem out?

RFU withdraws ticket allocation

The RFU has announced that evidence has been produced, which, in the view of the governing body, shows that international match tickets allocated to a number of member clubs and individuals have been sold on to the unofficial hospitality and unauthorised markets.

The RFU has written to the relevant parties informing them that a number of tickets from their international match ticket allocation are being withdrawn for season 2004/05.

RFU Commercial Director, Paul Vaughan, said today “We made it very clear earlier this year that we would take action against those parties who contravened the terms & conditions under which the match tickets were sold. A total of 15 member rugby clubs, one school and five individuals have been informed of the reduction and their right of appeal to our Disciplinary Officer, Jeff Blackett. An appeal must be made in writing no later than 28 days from the date of the letters (July 28th).

“It became clear that we were not dealing with one or two isolated cases and therefore we have decided to wait for what we feel is the optimum amount of time before making the announcement as we now feel that we have all the evidence relating to the large number of cases involved that we need.”
