Thank you Lawrence
England's Captain Lawrence Dallaglio beats Sir to it!
England's Captain Lawrence Dallaglio deserves our thanks and good wishes for the future.
Lawrence Dallaglio is a genuine hero of a man, he is one of our true great sportsmen and I am sure he will continue to provide wonderful leadership and ball skills on the field for London Wasps this coming season. He said at his press conference:-
"I've always felt, perhaps as other players before me, that I would know, almost instinctively, when it was the right time to retire from playing for England. I honestly feel that time is now."
One could say, Lawrence accepted a poison chalice when he took on the role of Captain. To follow a giant like Martin Johnson, to take on the Summer Tour of Hell Part II, to front up for the press. Yes he was a very brave man to take on those challenges.
It is never easy being a captain of any team but Lawrence led from the front as always, maybe if the Tour of Hell Part II had not happened and the team had been given a good rest, well just maybe, who knows we all say. One thing I do know is that I would like Lawrence to be in my team any day!
I would like to thank Lawrence on behalf of all Unofficial England fans for all the wonderful moments over the years he has played for England. There have been some spectacular moments, do you remember the England v Wales match when he carried three players almost over the line.... Oh what wonderful moments. One last thought from Lawrence himself.
"In my personal opinion there can be no greater honour or pride than to represent your country. "In doing so you live the dreams and aspirations of the whole nation and have the ability to inspire and enrich others. I've had that privilege on 73 occasions"
Thank you Lawrence and we all look forward to seeing you play in the Zurich Premiership. England will miss you but that will be Wasps gain.

Lawrence Dallaglio - You are a Star!
