Well the lads tried but it was not good enough, much better performances all around especially Charlie Hodgson who played beautifully and ridded himself of those dreadful kicking gremlins.

Ireland v England

Well the lads tried but it was not good enough, much better performances all around especially Charlie Hodgson who played beautifully and ridded himself of those dreadful kicking gremlins.

Martin Corry was for England man of the match his presence on the park the last two games has been immense and many are calling for him to be given the Captaincy - we shall see.

England matched Ireland in a very nervy first half  but for England Martin Corry's try helped to settle them down and they seemed to play a bit better.  Cueto's disallowed try was monstrous injustice and you can understand Andy Robinson being annoyed and it would seem he spent a good while talking to the Referee during the half time break.

Second half saw lots of England pressure and again, and again they pushed Ireland into their twenty two - again England felt the decision on the wrong side of the Ref., in particular another claimed try by Josh Lewsey and the Ref., did not even go to the video.

I think many England fans feel the referee was unfair in many calls but as one poster said referees don't lose you the game.  However, Andy Robinson thinks otherwise.

England coach Andy Robinson  was "livid" after England were denied two tries inn Dublin.  Mark Cueto's first-half effort was ruled out for offside which many pundits and fans thought not and then the referee did not even go to the Video ref., when England crashed over in the dying minutes of the game.

Robinson said "I'm absolutely spitting. I'm livid. There's two tries we've been cost,"   We've got to go back to technology. I don't know why we didn't."

Even  Josh Lewsey claimed he was denied try, insisting he grounded the ball when he was bundled over the line and said referee Jonathan Kaplan had made a wrong decision.

"I'm positive I touched the ball down over the line," . "It certainly wasn't a turnover." I was driven over and I put the ball on the ground. The whistle went and I let go of the ball.  One of the Irish players scooped it back after the whistle and to our surprise the referee then gave a turnover"

Ireland now will probably never have a better opportunity of a grand slam with home advantage against  France and the Wales v Ireland match will be a cracker.

"We made hard work of it but it's still special to beat England," O'Gara said. "I had three chance to win this game but didn't. We have work to do but we never take a victory over England lightly."

England have lost their first three games in the championship for the first time since 1987.

Oh well back to the drawing board folks!!!
