Captain Amor
England Singapore Sevens
April 16-17 2005.
England Sevens Coach Mike Friday has announced his Sevens Squad for Singapore, we wish them luck on this 5th leg of the Sevens Tournament.
New Zealand are top seeds in Pool A, where they face Australia in a repeat of the first semi-final at the Rugby World Cup Sevens in the Hong Kong . England, who lost their RWC Sevens semi-final in extra time to Waisale Serevi's Fiji in one of the finest games ever seen, are the tournament's second seeds. They too face a Hong Kong re-match.
England's Coach Mike Friday said....
“Singapore gives England a real opportunity to show that we can bounce back after going so close to reaching the final in Hong Kong. We were obviously disappointed with the defeat to Fiji but I am pleased that so many of the RWC Sevens squad and a number of players who have played at this level before will be with us in Singapore.
“Singapore should also present new caps Delon Armitage (London Irish), Ben Skirving (Saracens) and Will Matthews (Gloucester) with invaluable international experience. All three have been part of the England Sevens training squad since the start of the season and are an integral part of the sevens programme aimed at developing full internationals for the future.”
