England Rugby - April 2006 - Well it is that time of year again relegation and promotion and we all waited to see if dear old Andy would survive the drop? Well he did but others did not!

Gone Dave Alred - Gone Phil Larder - Joe Lydon Redeployed
An extract from the announcement made by Francis Baron on the 27th April, 2006:
"Andy Robinson OBE will remain as England Head Coach, with revised responsibilities, while forwards, attack and defence coaches will be appointed to assist him.
A forwards coach will be recruited, while replacements will be made for defensive coach Phil Larder MBE, who along with fellow World Cup winner Dave Alred MBE is leaving the RFU, and backs coach Joe Lydon, who has been offered redeployment within the RFU National Academy structure.
The RFU Performance Department will be restructured as the Elite Rugby Department, with a new Elite Rugby Director taking responsibility for strategy, player release and management and administration for all England representative teams.
The new England coaching team will report to the Elite Rugby Director, who will replace Chris Spice, the Performance Director, who has resigned with immediate effect."
Of course we now have lots of talk about the Elite Rugby Director's job being just perfect for Sir Clive Woodward, well no doubt time will tell.
