Rossington 11-31 Phoenix
By Tony
January 8 2007
Rotherham Phoenix secured back to back victories for the 2nd time this season with a 31-11 demolition of Rossington Hornets. The game was close at half time, but Roth scored eighteen unanswered points in the second half to record a fine win.

Rossington 11   Rotherham 31

Rotherham won a scrappy affair against the leagues bottom side. The first half was very poor from Rotherham ’s point of view, with basic errors made from everyone and a general lack intensity against a side clearly fancying their first win of the season. The half finished 13 – 11 in Roth’s favour with Andy Yates getting the try.

Roth upped the tempo after half time to play the type of rugby which suits them best with the forwards mauling particularly well and getting decent ball to the backs. Two second half scores from winger John Ratcliffe and fly half Tom Jenkinson ultimately proved too much for the home side.
