Here’s a round up of all the National Division One games played over the weekend. The round up has been compiled by Stephen McCormack on behalf of the RFU.
NATIONAL ONE ROUND-UP

Bedford Blues 66 (Tries: Lewis (9), Burke 2 (24, 33), Broadfoot (43), Roberts (48), Alexander (60), Johnson (63), Olver (79), Pritchard 2 (80, 80). Cons: Pritchard 8.        

Otley 8 (Try: Back (66). Pen: Benson (4)      

Bedford Blues ran in ten tries as the demolished struggling Otley at Goldington Road.

After Otley went ahead through an early Jon Benson penalty goal the home side ran in three first half tries with full Emyr Lewis getting things going and then right back Brendan Burke bagging a double and James Pritchard converted all three for a 21-3 lead at half time.

In the second half they ran in seven more tries with Pritchard bagging a brace in injury time, and with eight conversions ended the game with 26 points.   

 

Moseley 12 (Tries: Skelding (52), Thomas (80). Con: Thomas.      

Exeter Chiefs 48 (Tries: Hanks 2 (2, 20), Breeze (31), Luff (34), Kelly (56), Slade (70). Cons: Yapp 5, Staniforth  Pens: Yapp 2 (16, 25)      

Exeter Chiefs maintained sixth place with this comprehensive win away at second bottom Moseley.  

They were ahead after just two minutes with second row James Hanks going over for a try and Tony Yapp converted.

Yapp put over a penalty goal before converting a second Hanks try to make it 17-0 after 20 minutes. Yapp added a second penalty goal before converting tries form full back Ben Breeze and right wing Jason Luff to make it 34-0 at half time.

The home side got the first try of the second half with replacement second row Tom Skelding going over. The Chiefs wrapped it up with further tries from centre Wade Kelly and replacement Chad Slade before the home side got a second try late on through full back Ollie Thomas.

 

Earth Titans 35 (Tries: Hopcroft (16), Lund (30), McGowan (36), Smith (75), Blackwood (80). Cons: Steenson 2. Pens: Steenson 2 (23, 58).      

Plymouth Albion 27 (Tries: Sestaret 2 (7, 79), Barnes (69), Cons: Van Eyk 3. Pen: Van Eyk (18). DG: Van Eyk (21).     

The Titans remained three points behind leaders Leeds Tykes with just five matches left this season.  

It was Albion who took the lead with winger Nicholas Sestaret going over and Regardt Van Eyk adding the conversion. The home side were level when prop Adam Hopcroft went over and Gareth Steenson converted. Van Eyk edged the visitors ahead again with a penalty and a drop goal on 18 and 21 minutes.

Steenson pulled three points back soon after and on the half hour mark they took the lead with a try from Erik Lund which Steenson converted to make it 17-13. Before the break they got a third try with second row Louis McGowan going over and they led 22-13 at half time.

Steenson pushed the Titans further ahead with a penalty goal just before the hour mark. Albion got right back into it with fly half Ed Barnes going over and Van Eyk converted to get them back within a score of the home side.

 The Titans edged further clears with centre Showan Smith going over for a try on 75 minutes. Plymouth refused to give in and got right back into the match with Sestaret going in to make it a three point game with Van Eyk converting.

The Titans sealed the win in injury time when centre Jamie Blackwood went over for a try and deprive Albion a losing bonus point.

 

Newbury 20 (Tries: DamuDamu 2 (55, 77), Gibson (67). Con: Walsh. Pen: Walsh (27).      

Coventry 25 (Tries: T Johnson 2 (3, 58), Toft (42), Cons: Russell 2. Pens: Russell 2 (49, 51).     

Coventry went ahead in the 3rd minute when flanker Tom Johnson went over for a 5-0 lead. Tim Walsh managed to pull three points back for the home side before the break as they trailed 5-3.

Coventry pulled ahead in the opening 11 minutes of the second half with tries form replacement wing Ben Toft and centre Ed Binham with Ben Johnson kicking five points to open up a 20-3 lead.

Newbury were over the visitors try line on 55 minutes when No 8 Isoa DamuDamu went over to pull five points back. Johnson completed a double for Coventry on 58 minutes to secure the bonus point.

The home side did manage two tries in the final quarter with DamuDamu getting a second and centre Liam Gibson getting the other as they picked up a losing bonus point.     

 

Doncaster 62 (Tries: Talei 2 (8, 38), Phillips 2 (35, 70), Tau (46), Bailey 2 (51, 79), Forster (58), Davies (65). Cons: Woodrow 3, Gollings 4. Pen: Woodrow (27).        

Pertemps Bees 25 (Tries: Spee (2), Miles 2 (13, 29), Palm (54). Con: Higgins. Pen: Higgins (6).     

Comprehensive win for Doncaster after a tight first half which saw the home side ahead 24-20.   

The visitors rushed into a 10-0 lead in the first six minutes with right wing Reece Spee going over for a try which Jon Higgins converted and then put over a penalty goal.

The home side responded with tries from No 8 Netani Talei, a double, and hooker Ben Phillips with Mark Woodrow converting all three and putting over a penalty goal. In between hooker Matt Miles touched down a couple of time for the Bees.

In the second half it was all Doncaster running six tries to one to run out comfortable winners. Phillips went on to complete a double and winger Paul Bailey also bagged a brace. Flanker Jason Forster took his total to 23 for the season and is two clear of Plymouth Albion winger Nicholas Sestaret at the top of the try scorers list.

 

London Welsh 32 (Tries: Strong 2 (25, 70), Wellwood 2 (36, 57), Cons: Ulph 2, Marks. Pens: Ulph 2 (17, 49).      

Sedgley Park 17 (Tries: Roddam (32), Hall (44). Cons: P Jones 2. Pen: P Jones (9).       

Good home win for the Welsh against Sedgley Park. Phil Jones put the visitors ahead with an early penalty goal which Sam Ulph cancelled out on 17 minutes. Eight minutes later the Welsh were in front with winger James Storey going over for a try and Ulph converted.    

Seven minutes later Park were level with hooker Johnny Roddam touching down and Jones converting.

Just before the break the Welsh regained the lead with the other wing James Wellwood going over.

Early in the second half Park were level again when wing Chris Hall went over and Jones added the extras.

Ulph edged the home side ahead with a penalty goal on 49 minutes and they went two scores clear on 57 minutes when Wellwood completed a double. They sealed the win when Strong completed his double on 70 minutes. 

 

Cornish Pirates 20 (Tries: McAtee 2 (20, 24). Cons: Moore 2. Pens: Moore 2 (4, 7)        

Nottingham 8 (Try: Sherriff (29). Pen: Barlow (47).     

The Pirates won this match in the opening 24 minutes going into a 20-0 lead. There was a double for winger Rhodri McAtee to take him to 15 tries for the season and James Moore converted them both to add to two early penalty goals.

Just before the half hour mark the visitors got off the mark with a try from flanker Luke Sherriff.     

The only score of the second half was a penalty goal form Tom Barlow as the Pirates took to the points.

 

Leeds Tykes 66 (Tries: Hinton 2 (1, 56), McDonald 2 (10, 71), Biggs (17), Snyman (25), Rock (32), Tuilagi (57), Schusterman (63), Hooper (74). Cons: Hinton 8. .      

Waterloo 0     

Leeds Tykes maintained their three point lead at the top of the National One league table with this ten try demolition of bottom of the table Waterloo.

Leading the way was Leigh Hinton with 26 points, he converted eight of the tries and bagged a brace himself.

They was also a brace for prop Mike McDonald with the Tykes running in five in each half.
