Exeter Chiefs 22 Pertemps Bees 11
By The Birmingham Mail
December 4 2006
EXETER extracted revenge following their defeat to Bees in September at Sharmans Cross. But Bees squandered early opportunities. Matt Nutthall fired them in front with a 40-metre penalty but was off-target with an easier attempt.

And Bees blew a chance when prop Terry Sigley knocked-on with the try-line at his mercy.

Reprieved Exeter promptly took control, Tony Yapp levelling with a penalty before Bees had their try-line breached by flanker Tony Walker and lock Ian Brown.

Yapp improved one of the tries to put Exeter 15-6 in front at the break after Nutthall had notched up his second penalty.

The match was all but over within two minutes of resumption when winger Jason Luff raced over for a third try.

It was only when Exeter had scrum-half Kevin Barrett and hooker Simon Jenkins sinbinned in quick succession that Bees were able to make any impact when back-row forward Akapusi Qera was driven over for a try.

Bees head coach Steve Williams said that many of his players were suffering with tiredness.

"It was lack of energy that cost us in the end. For five of our players, it was their third game in a week," he said.
