Bees were without a win since the last day in March and were going into the game looking to sign off the season in style.
The home side though played their full part in a 12-try thriller which secured them two bonus points but still lacking their first National One win over Nottingham.
With nothing left to play for this season Bees went on the attack form the off but Nottingham struck first though a Tom Barlow penalty.
Bees responded quickly and were ahead within minutes when winger Kyle Palm went over and Jon Higgins added the conversion.
The home side stretched their lead further when Matt Nuthall, latched on to an ambitious pass from Barlow and went the length of the pitch for an interception score which Higgins again converted.
Nottingham were not out of the game though and scored a try when Neil Fowkes went over.
Nottingham went into the half-time break with a one point advantage with the Bees trailing 14-15.
In a see-saw second half Reece Spee went over to put Bees ahead before Nottingham rallied with two converted tries for the visitors from Nick Rouse and Ben Thompson.
Three tries in an eight minute spell from Akapusi Qera, Kyle Palm and Spee looked like they had clinched victory for the home side.
It was not to be though as the Bees then conceded a penalty try which Stenhouse improved to level the score.
The winning try came from Rohan Nirmalandran. |
