Meaaaaaaaaaaaat vs Pests
Prediction: Tigers 5, Wasps 0
Actual: Wasps 4, Tigers 0
Well, I've been absolutely 100% with my Wasps predictions so far. 100% wrong. I watched the first half or this game and Wasps were terrible. I'm still not convinced there isn't some global conspiracy to ruin these predictions. Anyway, a lot of controversy came through about Wasps losing two props to injury and going to uncontested scrums. In my opinion they didn't cheat - these were genuine injuries. Having said that, as a coach you'd be a lot happier picking less that 100% fit props knowing that you have the safety blanket of uncontested scrums to resort to. On Wednesday Wasps will welcome back Danny '3rd time lucky' Cipriani with confidence against Bath. The Meat host local rivals Saints.
Relegated vs Brizzle
Prediction: Falcons 4, Bristol 0
Actual: Falcons 4, Bristol 0
Jonny kicked, Falcons won. Bris look very poor at the moment, and they'll need to try and scrape a win from anywhere soon they've got Sarries on Wednesday night - and may well finish the section of the premiership 0 and 5. Falcons have two wins against their two rivals at home and will lose Jonny to England soon. They travel to Gloucester on Tuesday. So... yeah, they're not gonna win that.
Tadpoles vs Glozzer
Prediction: Sale 1, Gloucester 4
Actual: Gloucester 4, Sale 0
Well, fair play to Sale - kicking teams to death and not a single try conceded. I'm sure they'll improve - although at the moment they sound like Connolly's Bath from 5 seasons ago. Gloucester... well that's two losses from 4, but not the end of the world. You'd expect them to bounce back against the Falcons on Tuesday, Sale have a challenging trip to Reading Irish.
Brilliance vs Boilers
Prediction: Bath 4, Worcester 1
Actual: Bath 5, Worcester 0
The scoreline might have been harsh on Worcester, but to be honest Bath played all the rugby in this game. The highlight of the game for me was Duncan Bell's scorching 70 yard run, sidestepping both Miles Benjamin and Chris Latham on his way to a cool touchdown in the corner. It was a very pleasing exhibition of rugby, after three weeks of ping pong. Midweek, Worcester have a challenging game at home to Quins, Bath have a potential cracker at Wasps.
Sequins vs Drummers
Prediction: Quins 5, Irish 0
Actual: Quins 1, Irish 4
I was heard to remark on Saturday that this was my banker prediction, no way it wasn't going to happen. Having said that, I also wrote 2 weeks ago that I was going to stop underestimating Irish. Looks like both I, and Quins, should have listened to me. Irish were seventeen points down in this game and one point. A stunning comeback later and they were 8 points clear. Lots of credit should go to Toby Booth and returning captain Bob Casey - they switched the half-backs at half-time and boy did it turn out well for them. It doesn't get easier though, hosting Sale on Wednesday. Quins have a tricky trip to Wuss.
Watford vs Sinners
Prediction: Sarries 4, Saints 0
Actual: Sarries 4, Saints 0
Saints scrapped hard for the majority of this game, but were undone by a couple of yellow cards and some hard-nosed captaincy from Steve Borthwick. Twice Borthwick declined three points for scrums - twice he was directly rewarded with tries. You've got to imagine that if Martin Johnson is looking for an England captain, he'd like what he saw here. Sarries have a good chance to build on this win at Bristol on Wednesday, Saints have a hard derby at the Tigers.
Prediction Success rate after this week: 15/24 - 0.625
