Bees Withdraw Planning application
By The Bee Hive
January 18 2009
The Birmingham and Solihull Bees have now withdrawn the planning application for Sharmans Cross Road, which was to change the use of the site. Kieran Leahy, an Oakmoor Group Director and Bees' long-time development partner, confirmed:

"As the principals of the setting up of the Sporting Partnership Community Foundation and the resulting benefits for sport are wide ranging and require considerable due diligence, it has become apparent that it will take more time to conclude this work. Although very close to being concluded, because of the timing of planning committee dates, this process was unlikely to be concluded within the statutory 13 week planning period. I discussed this with the BSRFC Board, the Mini and Junior Chairman, and the players this week and following consultation with the planning authority our planning consultant advised the planning department [yesterday] that we intend to withdraw and resubmit the applications.

We have gone a long way down the road with the necessary consultations and most of the necessary work has been completed. We will be re-submitting shortly and anticipate the new application to be dealt with expediently. The process of withdrawing and resubmitting a planning application for these reasons is not unusual, we are no less committed, the support in principal which we have for the proposals is there and we are very close to concluding the necessary due diligence."
