So, at long last, the new National League season will be amongst us when Bees travel to Dry Leas to take on Henley. Henley are not going to be a walk in the park: Bees boss Phil Maynard says that Dry Leas is one of the hardest places to visit, and the Hawks bought down many top sides last year. Bees struggled to force a win last year needing a few very late tries to win.

For the Bees, fly half Tim Walsh will be missing, allowed leave to visit his sister’s wedding in Brisbane, Australia.

Dave Knight will also be missing having failed a late fitness test due to a knee ligament injury.

Debuting for the Bees will be former Worcester legend, and last years Nat 1 leading try scorer Gavin Pfister, who will hope to speed up the forward unit and also Matt Miles, Dan Zaltzman and Simon Martin.

Captain Ed Orgee will also be missing following his injury at Newcastle last week. Rob Walton will come into the second row, and Paul Knight will captain the side.

Henley will be missing last years leading try scorer Nnamdi Obi who is also at his sisters wedding.

Debuting for Henley are are Harvey Biljon (scrum-half), on loan from London Wasps, Mike Tamati (centre) the Samoan New Zealander who has played in Italy for the past five seasons, Joe Horn-Smith (prop) ex- Bristol Academy returning to England after a season in France with Periguex and Sam Ulph (centre/full back) formerly at Loughborough University and London Wasps. There is also a debut for Andy Van Zyl (prop) the brother of Hawks' centre Ric who played for the Hawks' Alliance side last season.
