Rotherham 30-12 Bees
By Elliott Josypenko
November 3 2004
Bees lost 30-12 away at Clifton Lane with Rotherham scoring 3 tries and Bees 2. Full report to come

For the second time in four games Pertemps Bees were outmuscled up front and were never in a position to record their first-ever victory over Rotherham.
After two visits to Millmoor two seasons ago it was back to the homely comforts of Clifton Lane where the Bees conceded 130 points in their previous two visits in the 2001/02 season.
This time the game was more competitive but, without a resolute defensive display in the second half, the Bees might have been on the end of another drubbing.
The game was all over after 30 minutes as Rotherham ran in three tries in a devastating nine minute spell, the result of quick, confident handling and tentative defence from the Bees.
Ramiro Pez nudged Rotherham in front with an early penalty after the Bees had failed to turn ten minuts of pressure into points and made the first breach of the Bees' defence when left winger Michael Wood popped up on the right wing and rounded off a confident halding move.
Full-back Anthony Elliott then sliced through for a second try and when right wing David Strettle raced clear from half-way despite a rather obvious knock-on and Pez added a thid conversion followed by his second penalty, that was that.
The Bees did pull back a converted try before the break when Shaun Woof rounded off an attack that went half the length of the pitch. But the Bees' handling let them down at critical stages of the second half, their scrum creaked under pressure and Rotherham's defence held firm.
Pez's third penalty killed off any thoughts the Bees might have had of pulling off an unlikely victory but Nick Baxter rounded off the scoring when he crossed for his seventh league try of the season and 135th of his career.
The match was marred by a serious injury to Bees' prop Matt Long who had 35 stitches inserted in a badly gashed forehead as the players broke up from a ruck early in the second half.
The Bees have submitted a formal complaint to Rotherham alleging that the injuries were deliberately inflicted by a stamp. Rotherham have agreed to investigate an take any appropriate disciplinary action.
