Bees will be looking to avenge their Powergen Shield defeat when they meet Bedford at Sharman’s Cross Road, although they will have to do it without a number of first choice players.

Part of Phil’s plan is to give everyone in the squad a chance to “play for their contract” and tomorrow will see a number of squad players given their chance.

Ben Gerry, hooker and back row forward is set to start in his favoured position of openside flanker and Ben Hughes will return alongside him at the rear of the scrum leaving Jim Jenner on the bench.

Captain Ed Orgee is also set to return and is picked ahead of former Welsh U21, Alex Davidson.

In the backs, a new centre partnership will be tried with Scotty Williams deservedly picking up the number 12 shirt with injury returnee Simon Martin slotting outside him.

The bench is packed full of experience with Alex Davidson, Jim Jenner and Shaun Woof, and one of Phil favourites, Rob Merritt is on the bench for his penultimate match for the Bees.

Bedford will be a real test for the Bees playing solid defensive rugby and are certain to punish any Bees infringements. In the last outing just 30 odd days ago, Hese Fakatou was the only try scorer, but Lee Hinton won the game for the loud visitors.

My prediction: Bees 12-12 Bedford
