Italy V South Africa test is off
By Annie October 12 2005
The Italian Rugby Federation have announced that the test match due to have taken place on 3rd December 2005 between Italy and South Africa has regrettably had to be cancelled. This now leaves the Springboks with three end of season tests, they shall now play Argentina, Wales and France.
The Italian Rugby Federation (FIR) advised it will not be able to field all their first choice players as they would wish for such an important match due to existing agreements with their clubs.

In a letter to SA Rugby yesterday, Giancarlo Dondi, president of the Italian Rugby Federation, expressed his disappointment that the Test match will no longer happen: "Our Union is always honoured to host SA Rugby in our country. We share your disappointment and take this opportunity to thank you for your cooperation in this matter, confident we will be able to find a suitable arrangement for the near future."

The confirmed end of year tours schedule by the Springboks:
Nov 5: vs Argentina in Buenos Aires;
Nov 19 vs Wales in Cardiff;
Nov 26 vs France in Paris.

The Springbok squad will be announced on Saturday, 22 October after the 2005 Absa Currie Cup Premier Division final match.
